10 Designer Names You Must Know How To Pronounce


It’s all good to drool over the latest trends and keep abreast with all the designers and brands, but saying some of their names can be troublesome for the best of us.

And nothing ruins a good couture moment more than a mispronounced designer brand.

So here are 10 brand names you must know how to say without any margin for error:

1. Givenchy


Founded in France in 1952, this French luxury brand is the epitome of Haute Couture clothing, accessories, perfumes and cosmetics.

2. Chopard


This is a Swiss-based luxury watch, jewelry and accessories brand founded in 1860 by Louis-Ulysse Chopard.

3. Hermes


Deriving its name from Olympian god in Greek mythology, Hermès or Hermes of Paris is a French manufacturer of quality goods established in 1837, specializing in leather, lifestyle accessories, perfumery, luxury goods, and ready-to-wear.

4. Jean Paul Gaultier


He is one of the best French Haute Couture and Pret-a-Porter fashion designers. Gaultier never received any formal training as a designer; he is a natural.

5. Pierre Cardin


Pierre Cardin, an Italian-born French high fashion designer best known for his geometric avant-garde designs, launched the Space Age look in the 1960s by using stark tunics, goggles and helmets in his designs.

8. Yves Saint Laurent


Yves Henri Donat Mathieu-Saint-Laurent, known as Yves Saint Laurent was a French fashion designer, and is regarded as one of the greatest names in the fashion history.

A film is scheduled to be released this summer based on the famous designer as well starring Pierre Niney, Guillaume Gallienne and Charlotte Le Bon.
