These graphic photos surfaced on Facebook early this week. It is believed that the victims are Christian women in the city of Mosul northern Iraq murdered by the terrorist group, Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
The ISIS is a splinter group of the al Qaeda terrorist network. Their leader is Abu Bakr al Baghdadi (pictured above).
ISIS views are even too radical for al Qaeda, that’s why they broke away from them. The ISIS, just like Nigeria’s Boko Haram is waging war against the Iraqi government and has taken over several cities. It is seeking to create an Islamic state that encompasses parts of Iraq and Syria and has begun imposing Sharia law in the towns it controls.
Christian families fled Mosul this month after the al Qaeda splinter group issued an ultimatum to Iraqi Christians living there: either convert to Islam, pay a fine or face “death by the sword.”
Let’s pray for the Lord Jesus Christ to protect the Christian families in these regions. May the souls of the dearly departed rest in perfect peace, Amen.
