Introducing The 2013 OFFICIAL Colour Of The Year!!

PANTONE COLOR OF THE YEAR 2013 - Emerald 17-5641

For stylistas, deevas, fashionistas, and gentlemen who know the importance of style, it is utterly necessary to know the universal colour theme at the beginning of each new year. This is to enable them to plan and incorporate this colour theme into their dressing and everyday lifestyle.

Every year, Pantone Limited Liability Company  is charged with the responsibility of selecting and announcing the Colour of the Year. Pantone is a global authority on colour and a  provider of professional colour standards for the design industries.

Last year, Pantone chose the colour, “PANTONE 17-1463” called Tangerine Tango as 2012 Colour of the Year. Tangerine Tango was a spirited, reddish orange, providing the energy boost we needed to recharge and move forward.

So on December 6, 2013 Pantone announced that THE OFFICIAL 2013 COLOUR OF THE YEAR IS…drum roll please…EMERALD!!  This particular shade of Emerald is PANTONE® 17-5641.

Emerald, is a vivid, verdant green, which enhances our sense of well-being further by inspiring insight, as well as promoting balance and harmony. The perception of Emerald is sophisticated and luxurious.

Since antiquity, this luminous, magnificent hue has been the colour of beauty and new life in many cultures and religions. It’s also the colour of growth, clarity, renewal and prosperity – no other colour conveys regeneration and rejuvenation more than green. For centuries, many countries have chosen green to represent healing and unity.

Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Colour Institute® explains this choice further: “Green is the most abundant hue in nature – the human eye sees more green than any other colour in the spectrum.”

Symbolically, Emerald brings a sense of clarity, renewal and rejuvenation, which is so important in today’s complex world. This powerful and universally appealing tone translates easily to both fashion and home interiors.

Emerald can easily be incorporated into red carpet fashion and equally harmonious on the cosmetic colour wheel. It is also very easy to incorporate it into interiors and furnishings.

Emerald dramatizes all eye colours as it beautifully enhances green eyes, is compatible to blue eyes, emphasizes the green undertone in hazel eyes and intensifies brown eyes to make them appear deeper. Emerald is also a perfect complement to peaches, pinks, roses, ruby reds and aubergines – offering a variety of lipstick and blush options. For those who want to sparkle and stand out, Emerald is the perfect punctuation point in nail colour because of its complementary nature.

The colour of the year is particularly appealing to me because it is the OFFICIAL colour of my country and also the OFFICIAL colour of my church. So it’s a double blessing for me.

Okay Naija, Let go there!!!
