The father of Omar Mateen, the man who killed more than 49 people at an Orlando nightclub last weekend has said the atrocity his son committed is completely inconsistent with his family’s religion. “It’s against the philosophy that I teach them,” he said.
Seddique Mateen who is a US Citizen and the self-appointed President of Afghanistan, reacted as any grieving parent would.
Seddique Mateen told reporters on Monday morning,
“I don’t forgive him.”
The elder Mateen who was shaking his head as he spoke in his stately Port St. Lucie home said he had been up all night “in shock.”
He continued to condemn his son and praise the United States, which he repeatedly called “my house” and “my home.” He said,
“The United States is my house. The United States is the house that is always taking care of me, my family, all the people from my homeland.”
The Orlando shooting has been described by authorities as the worst mass shooting in U.S. history and is now considered the deadliest terrorist attack on US soil since September 11.
