The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the US Embassy in London this morning to meet Ambassador Matthew Barzun and his staff and pay their respects to the victims of the slaughter in Florida by signing a book of condolence.
The royals looked solemn as they arrived at the Embassy in Grosvenor Square in the pouring rain, but Kate Middleton still managed to raise a smile from the Embassy workers after meeting them in a receiving line.
Both royals signed their names and Prince William wrote,
‘With our deepest condolences and with our thoughts and prayers to all those affected.’
Terrorist Omar Mateen shot dead 49 people and wounded at least 53 more during the massacre at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando in the early hours of Sunday morning – and called 911 just before the attack to pledge allegiance to ISIS.
Millions of people around the world have since come together for vigils in tribute to those killed in the massacre.
