Roy Keane Slams Manchester City And Pep Guardiola After Barcelona Defeat [VIDEO]

Roy KeaneManchester City’s 4-0 defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday night had embarrassment written all over it.

Lionel Messi opened the scoring in the early stages but what followed will give manager Pep Guardiola nightmares for the foreseeable future.

Claudio Bravo was dismissed in the 53rd minute for handling Luis Suarez’s shot 25-yards out, having passed the ball straight to the Uruguayan striker moments earlier.

And the floodgates soon opened, with Messi bagging a hat-trick and Neymar dribbling past several of City’s defenders before slotting home Barcelona’s fourth late on.

However, as poor as the Citizens were, it’s Guardiola who ultimately has some answering to do.

So poor where Guardiola and City’s tactics, in fact, that Manchester United legend Roy Keane used two words to describe them: very stupid.

Speaking on ITV in the video below, he said:

“I think City’s approach to the game tonight was very brave, but very stupid as well.

“A few of the goals tonight were players being guilty of overplaying in areas. Everyone loves to see good football, but it’s your decision when to play and when to clear your lines.

“City were punished tonight for the mistakes they made.”

Keane was particularly critical of Bravo, who Guardiola signed for £17 million in the summer because of his ‘ability’ on the ball.

“I’ve never heard so much about a goalkeeper coming to a club because of what he does with his feet,” the Irishman added.

“The bottom line is, he wants to play out from the back, but not there and then. If one of your defenders did that you’d be critical of them.

“There’s a time to play and there’s a time to clear your lines. Decision making was all wrong there.”

Rio Ferdinand also panned City for their abject performance against Barcelona, claiming an overhaul is needed of Guardiola’s squad.

“The personnel that he has [at City] aren’t quite up to what he wants to be able to execute his ideas,” he said on BT Sport.

“He needs to change personnel if he wants to actually get the results that he’s used to getting in league and European football.”
