Dino Melaye is currently one of the Nigerian delegates attending the forum for the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) currently holding in St. Petersburg, Russia. This year’s event opened on the 14th and is expected to run until 18th October.
The IPU said that its 2,000 delegates will focus discussions this week on overcoming intolerance, xenophobia and extremism. During the Assembly, the parliamentarians are expected to sign a petition promoting democratic societies. They will also discuss a number of global issues, including prohibition of nuclear weapons, cyber-security, as well as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promotion of renewable energy.
Senator Melaye and Senate President, Bukola Saraki are the representatives from Nigeria, and we are most confident that these two sterling gentlemen will do us proud.
The Senator took time after his speech to take a photo with Russian President, Vladimir Putin which he captioned,
“With President Putin holding me tight today. Humble man indeed.”
Senator Melaye also took pictures with the Speaker of Russian parliament and others.Left-Right: Senator Dino Melaye, IPU President, Saber Hossain Chowdhury from Bangladesh, Speaker Russian Parliament, Valentina Matviyenko and Nigerian Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
