A man had his head stamped on and his part of his cheek bitten off because he described a woman as “as fit as f**k” in the street.
Aaron Wanklyn needed 60 stitches to his ravaged face after he made the comment about Michelle Byrne to his pal Liam Ogden as she passed on his way home from a nightclub.
Byrne’s companion Christopher Wilkinson then attacked Mr Wanklyn – punching him to the ground and biting him on the face as they grappled, while Byrne herself kicked him with the high heels she was wearing.
Michelle and Christopher were both charged to court where a judge heard how they jointly assaulted Aaron. The Prosecution stated how a taxi marshal at the scene had turned to see Byrne stamping on Mr Wanklyn three times with her right shoe and he ran over to assist in pulling her away.
The trial lasted for three days after which a jury of seven women and five men acquitted Michelle Byrne of the charge at Gloucester Crown Court after three and a half hours of consideration.
The 32-year-old accused woman wept tears of relief on Saturday as she was cleared today of wounding Wanklyn with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Byrne was bailed by Judge Michael Harington to be sentenced on Friday, August 5th for the lesser offence of unlawful wounding. He said Wilkinson will also be sentenced at the same hearing.
Byrne was granted bail with conditions including a 10am-6pm tagged curfew. Do you think the judgment was fair looking at the fact that Wanklyn needed reconstructive surgery to the cheek and had to have sixty stitches?
