#WorldAutismDay | Egor Efiok Shares Her Experience Caring For An Autistic Loved One

world autism dayMore Nigerians are opening up to talk about family members and loved ones living and coping with Autism.

The idea of World Autism Awareness Day to enlighten people that this condition is nothing to be ashamed about. It is also to teach us how these special needs people cope with everyday life, why they must NEVER be stigmatized especially in Africa where most parts are still ignorant about how to cope or live with autistic people.

Callywood boss, Egor Efiok took to her Instgram page to shed more light on this. She wrote:

One thing most people don’t know about me is my connection with autism (not me in particular); it has made my life a living HELL but I am coping and have realised that it can be cured. My dear friend and sister @monalisacode started her autism charity 7 years ago because of me.

We should be aware that autism exists…it is not from the village…if I had believed what people were telling me back then when I first discovered that I had to deal with this condition…in fact I now laugh at the memories. Some of the most intelligent people on earth like Jean Claude Basquiat, Andy Warhol and Oscar Wilde were autistic.

They were all precocious children, hence their popularity. Autism is not a life sentence and is not a condition to be ashamed of. You can beat it and turn it into something positive. Don’t let anything weigh you down.
